EOF State-wide Student Day at the Capitol - March 24, 2022
A special thank you to the EOF students, staff, alumni, legislators and special guests who joined us in-person or virtually on March 24, 2022.
EOF Meets With Legislators In the State Capitol - June 2017
On Thursday, June 22, 2017, EOF students traveled to Trenton, as Senate President Sweeney announced that he and other NJ legislators have reinstated the $3.56 million cut from the EOF budget, plus recommended additional funding in the amount of $1.5 million to support New Jersey's EOF students. Senator Sweeney's support was echoed by Senator Ruiz of Newark and a representative from Camden.
TCNJ Junior Rafiatu Nawvridam highlighted how valuable her EOF advisor is to her undergraduate experience. She specifically spoke about how her advisor helped her to apply and receive a $20,000 scholarship to study aboard in Jordan.
The event concluded with David Hughes, President of the Rutgers-AAUP-AFT chapter, stating that EOF funds should not only be restored but expanded because it is a public right to receive access and support toward a college degree.
The final step in the budget process is for Governor Christie to sign off on the budget without making any changes to the recommendations made by the legislators. The Governor is set to finalize on the budget on June 30. We will keep you posted once the budget is approved.
Thank you to everyone who has helped in various ways to advocate for EOF funds throughout this year!
A special thank you to the EOF students, staff, and alumni who made their presence felt yesterday.

"Stop judging me just because I come from a poor background"
Through EOF, I have met some of the hardest working students. I met future doctors and businesspeople. I met future authors and teachers. I met people who all came from similar backgrounds as me but had one thing in common: hope for a brighter and more successful future. Being an EOF scholar is something to never be ashamed of. It’s a label that one should wear with pride, knowing that because of this program, one day they will be able to say, “I made it.”
